This week’s Single of the Week is “Nevermind” by Petter & The Pix. Stockholm’s Petter and the Pix are a curious blend of jangling guitar pop with touches of electronics throughout most of their new album Easily tricked. Sultry strings open ‘Nevermind’ before Petter’s scorched vocals drift in, underpinned by a balmy cello.
This week’s Single of the Week is “Sister Siam” by The Whip. The Whip are one of the most exciting bands to emerge from Manchester in a long time. They have just embarked on a tour with Late Of The Pier and Hadouken!, followed by their own 25 date headline tour across the UK. The band have just finished recording their debut album, due for release next year.
This week’s Single of the Week is “Weekend Wars” by MGMT. MGMT is a group from Brooklyn whose debut was produced by Flaming Lips constant, Dave Fridmann. They also spent a good part of 2007 creating new fans while opening for Of Montreal. Brightly-lit psychedelic rock with electronic overtones is how you might describe “Weekend Wars”.
This week’s Single of the Week is “Time Will” by Hercules and Love Affair. “Time Will” is an extraordinary record thanks to the inclusion of Anthony, from The Johnsons fame. The song is amazingly-voiced, with an electro-pop theme, making it an excellent free single of the week!

Adela Diane hails from Nevada City in Northen California, and her debut, The Pirate’s Gospel has been describe of having a “psych folk” and “New Weird America” influence. South London’s Tawiah has been adding her dreamy, soulful vocal skills to Mark Ronson’s live performances, filling in the spots where Amy Winehouse and Lily Allen were hear on record. Her new EP, In Jodi’s Befroom is a slowly creeping blend of soulful strut and tinkling indie rock atmospherics. IWACS is a two-piece epic synth-pop group who’s debut album is overflowing with sugar-sweet melodies, gurgling synths and energetic alt-rock. “Save Your Wishes” is the stirring and melancholy track that opens the album. This week’s Single of the Week is “Split Lips” by Sons of Daughters. Sons of Daughters are a 4-piece rock band from Glasgow, and have released three albums on the Domino record label. The band started in 2001, and have toured with Morrissey and Franz Ferdinand. “Split Lips” is a slightly bitter track, but the female vocals and repetitive rhythm gives the song a folk-like feel. This week’s Single of the Week is “Night Terror” by Laura Marling. Marling is a teenage singer/songwriter from Reading. She has toured with Jamie T and played last year’s Underage Festival. “Night Terror” has a gentle folk rhythm with a touch of warmth in the melody.
