This week’s Latino Single of the Week is “Malito” by Señor Flavio. As the bassist for Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, Señor Flavio provided the bottom end to the group’s funky mash-ups of ska, rock, hip-hop, and Argentinean grooves. For this solo cut, he keeps the genre definitions at arm’s length - working in an uptempo skank while mixing up lightning-quick smooth lyrics against some gruff dancehall-like toasting.

This week’s Latino Single of the Week is “Ay, Ay, Ay” by Karyme Lozano. Mexico City’s Karyme Lucia Lozano is one of the most recognizable actresses in international television. She is best known as a star of telenovelas such as Amar Sin Limites, Tres Mujeres, El Manantial, ”Niña Amada Mía and Soñar No Cuesta Nada. This track is from her debut album, Prohibido.

This week’s Latino Single of the Week is “Promesas” by Los Mono. Los Mono bring positive energy and inspired, post-modern funk at every corner on their album Somos Los Que Estamos. “Promesas” is a pounding party jam as narrated by robots carrying samplers - with plenty of thick bass lines and the sparkling sprinkle of a harp for exoticism’s sake.

Her sweet, sublime voice spins gentle melodies in both Spanish and English, as evidence in this track “Paradise”. The track has a light rhythm but Laan’s voice is the true highlight. This week’s Latino Single of the Week is “Mundos Diferentes” by Gabby Villanueva. Villaneuva had been a popular TV personality, but now she’s ready for her music career. This week’s Latino Single of the Week is “The Sweetest Thing” by Santos De Los Angeles. Santos De Los Angeles was born in Mexico, but grew up in L.A. His music brings messages of love and peace amidst a killer groove that touches on reggae, R&B, and cumbia styles.
