This week’s Latino Single of the Week is “Malito” by Señor Flavio. As the bassist for Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, Señor Flavio provided the bottom end to the group’s funky mash-ups of ska, rock, hip-hop, and Argentinean grooves. For this solo cut, he keeps the genre definitions at arm’s length - working in an uptempo skank while mixing up lightning-quick smooth lyrics against some gruff dancehall-like toasting.

This week’s Single of the Week is “Lights & Music” by Cut Copy. Cut Copy is a band from Melbourne, Australia. Their sound, often labeled as indie dance and/or electroclash , draws considerable influence from 80s new wave and post punk genres. The band describe the track as “a trans-galactic voyage featuring epic synth breakdowns and more than a sprinkling of Goldsworthy magic.”
